Colasti na Dubhais Year 9 Hurling

October 10, 2016

Colasti na Dubhais ( an amalgamation team from schools in Belfast who currently do not participate in A hurling) participated in the Mc Namee Cup.  This allows players to experience A grade schools hurling with an aim to develop their skills and provide an opportunity to continue hurling. We have had coaching sessions every Tuesday evening ( over 20 players )in September allowing players an opportunity to get to know each other .

We were drawn with Cross and Passion College Ballycastle, St Mary’s CBS Belfast and Our Lady and St Pats Knock. Dubhais did not qualify for quarter finals but played well in their games with some close finishes,  the players enjoyed the opportunity to play at this level. Many thanks to the schools and teachers for their assistance. The parents were very supportive and thanks to those who helped out with transport which is a massive help . Finally thanks to Simon Mc Crory and Antion Mc Caffrey for their coaching with the panel.

The players were from the following clubs Ardoyne, Brid Og ,  Davitts , Gort na Mona, Lamh Dhearg . Loch Mor , O Donnells , Sarsfields , St Endas, St Galls, St Johns and St Pauls . Hopefully more players will get involved as this panel develops. In 2016/17 Dubhais will participate in Mageean Cup (Yr 14) , Gallagher Cup (yr10) and The Forresters Cup (Yr 12) , all A grade competitions.
