Abbey start MacRory with big win

Abbey CBS 3-16 St Patrick’s Academy Dungannon 0-5

Abbey CBS shot up the rankings of Danske Bank MacRory Cup contenders with this comprehensive win over visiting St Patrick’s Academy to their home grounds yesterday afternoon.

Strong in many areas of the field, Conor Fox and Blain McGrath kept Abbey on the attack and Ronan Fegan delivered five of the first half points that saw them pull ahead 0-8 to 0-2 at the break.

The game was put beyond doubt when Blaine McGrath goaled in the 36th minute.

Lorcan Forde and Niall Courtney also hit the net during the fourth quarter to leave the Academy with a huge hill to climb during the rest of the competition. Paul Donaghy added two points during the second half for them.
