Alongside our sponsors Danske Bank, Ulster Schools GAA recognise the achievements of a footballer and hurler every month from across the spectrum of ongoing games and competitions.

For January, the Football Player of the Month is Cormac Blaney from Rathmore .

Cormac is a member of the Bredagh GAC in County Down, and was in exceptional form throughout the month as Rathmore reached the Final of the Danske Bank U19 Casement Cup. Playing in the half forward line, he was instrumental in their semi final victory over St Colman’s Newry, and while his Rathmore side were unable to collect the cup against St Mary’s Magherafelt in the Final, the young Bredagh hurler marked himself out as one to watch for the future. A competent dual player, Cormac also lined out for the Rathmore side who lost out in the Danske Bank MacLarnon Cup final just a few weeks ago.
