Damian Casey
1993-2022
The entire Ulster Schools GAA community wish to offer its heartfelt sympathy to the Casey family on the sudden passing of Damian. Our thoughts and prayers at this time are with his father Séan and mother Susan, his sisters Louise and Catherine, his wider family circle, as well as his many teammates and clubmates at Eoghan Ruadh Hurling Club and Tyrone GAA.
Damian was a special talent. And this talent was recognised with an Ulster Colleges All-Star Hurling Award at Right Half Forward in 2011, while he was a student of St. Patrick’s Academy Dungannon. Damian had previously won a Leopold Cup (U15.5) medal in 2009 and would play a key role in the school reaching the Casement Cup (U18.5) Final in 2011. In a sign of his all-round sporting talent, Damian was also an accomplished footballer during his time at the Academy, winning D’Alton Cup (U13.5) and Corn na nÓg (U14.5) medals in 2007, scoring 10 goals and 9 points in that successful D’Alton campaign.
That Damian went on to represent his club, his county and his country with such distinction is no surprise to anyone who was privileged enough to witness his talents with his school.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.
